| This is an eclectic
little list of links related to writing and the NWT. In alphabetical
order . . .
Anita Daher
Website of my friend, young adults’ author Anita Daher. Her books are
fun, full of adventure . . . and set in the North. Anita knows whereof
she speaks - she has a solid northern pedigree, having lived in the
NWT, Nunavut and northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
City of
Yellowknife
City Hall’s website. Click on the
Visitors link for info about Yellowknife. Includes a nifty little
video!
Crime Writers of Canada
Information
about the Canadian crime and mystery writing scene. I recommend a CWC
membership for writers of all stripes - an article in one of the
newsletters provided helpful advice for setting up author websites . .
. like this one.
Government of the Northwest Territories
Website for the territorial government. Pop quiz: what’s consensus
government? How many federal, provincial or territorial governments in
Canada operate under the consensus system? Check the website for the
answer.
NorthWords
Writers Festival
A festival for writers and readers that has been running in
Yellowknife since 2006. I was on the original organizing committee and
set up the website.
Sage Hill
Writing Experience
A writers’ organization in Saskatchewan. In 2004 I spent a wonderful
10 days in the Qu’Appelle Valley at Sage Hill’s Summer Experience.
Storyteller
A Canadian popular fiction magazine that has published a number of my
stories. For years I called the people at Storyteller my “new
best friends.” The relationship ain’t so new anymore, but they are
still my very, very good friends.
